Values

Our passion is administrative law
Innovation.

At Stone Loughlin & Swanson, LLP our passion is administrative law and we have distinguished ourselves as a “go to” law firm in the areas of health and workers’ compensation insurance regulation. Our innovative challenges to agency action have saved our clients millions of dollars and changed the regulatory landscape for all system participants.

Expertise.

We are eight attorneys, three registered nurses, and a dedicated support staff all focused on the same area of practice. We know the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation inside and out. Three of our attorneys are former administrative law judges for the Division, one is a former Appeals Panel judge for the Division, and one is a former legal counsel to the Division. Two of our attorneys are also board-certified in administrative law and three are board-certified in workers’ compensation law. Together we provide an unrivaled depth of knowledge in Texas workers’ compensation law. Martindale Hubbell, the nation’s premier rating group for lawyers, has rated the firm “AV” which is their highest distinction. In addition, we are the only law firm in Texas chosen to be a member of the National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network.

Presence.

We live and work in Austin, home of state regulatory agencies, the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH), and the Travis County courts (venue for substantial evidence judicial reviews). Our presence in the state capital allows us to closely monitor agency actions and deliver cost-effective representation in administrative proceedings. In particular, our proximity to the Texas Department of Insurance, Division of Workers’ Compensation makes us perfectly positioned to assist system participants in the development, certification, and regulation of workers’ compensation health care networks and to assist insurance carriers and self-insured employers with workers’ compensation medical necessity and fee disputes. Stone Loughlin & Swanson is a founding sponsor for Kids’ Chance of Texas, which raises money to provide scholarships for children of workers seriously injured or killed on the job.
